Maybe if you post this problem in the hardware forum with the graphics card make and model and driver you're using, perhaps someone has a workaround. Is your graphics card on the official "approved" list? If you're just trying Maya out, my guess is no - lots of graphics cards will work for most things but the context sensitive menus, the selections, and the hypershade are always the first to screw up. You know that your right-mouse button is a context-sensitive menu - it looks like maybe the context isn't being read correctly. Game cards often have problems with foreground/background selections using any mouse button. If that doesn't work, my next guess would be your graphics card. If you rename it, you only have to change the extension to something like "old" - anything but "mel". You can either delete the entire prefs folder, or go into it and delete (or rename) the file called "l". Inside that folder is one called "prefs". In that folder is your version folder - mine says 2011圆4 - yours will be whatever version you are using. Go to your My Documents folder, and open the Maya folder in there. Very often (and I mean very) this prefs file gets corrupt, and Maya misbehaves.Įxit Maya. When you install Maya, it installs a set of preferences for you - every time you launch Maya and then quit, it re-writes these prefs. So please help!! Beg Beg, Would really appreciate helping me (the thickie) out.ĭoeas anyone know how to contact Autodesk for help regarding this, getting no help, anyone have a phone number? If it helps I have also noticed that at the same time that this happened I noticed that I cannot just click on an object to select it, but when I left click to select an object I get a list of all of the objects that I could select on appear as opposed to whatever I am selecting? really annoying and cannot get rid of this, as do not know how? (see attached image 06032011_121313.jpg the Third image)) PLEASE HELP.Īlso here is another issue, here i am right-clicking on a curve to try to select 'control vertex', but when i right-click i get the following menu appear and not the option to select control-vertex, etc. Really could do with a hand to point out where I have gone wrong / or what I have done to cause this, tried quitting out, but still the same when Maya re-starts, really annoying as cannot finish of my tutorial. If I then right-click on any object in any of the other windows (top, front, side) I get a different window (see attached image 02032011_144132.jpg (the first image)). I now only have the correct setting for when I right-click the mouse in the perspective windows (please see attached image 02032011_144158.jpg (the second image)). OK, very new to Maya, I have been getting my head around it, and in the process I have selected either the wrong keyboard shortcut or shirt instead of crtl, etc.
